Research Interests / Areas of Specialization (Keywords)
- Formulation Chemistry and Technology: Nano-carriers for Insoluble Drugs, Lipid-Based formulations (liposomes/vesicles, liquid crystalline phases, cubosomes, oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions), Foods, cosmetics, perfume and pharmaceutical formulations, Develop/Optimize/Scale-up Processes (e.g. novel methods for producing Nano-formulations), lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for applications in vaccines
- Applied Materials: Soft Materials (e.g. Amphiphilic Molecules’ Self-Assembly, Colloids, Hydrogels), Nanomaterials (e.g. Carbon Nanotubes-CNTs, Fullerene, Cubosomes), Bio-functionalization of Structural Materials (e.g. Lipid Coating on CNTs), Structure-Property-Performance Relationship of Complex Materials (e.g. Foods, Polymers, Structured Emulsions).
- SAXS: small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS) on lipids/surfactants/block copolymer systems, powder diffraction, high brilliance beamlines at synchrotron X-ray sources, high-pressure studies, in situ and real-time, temperature-controlled SAXS studies.
- Biomembrane Systems: Lipid-Biomolecule Interactions (e.g. Bile Salts, Membrane Proteins, Building Block Molecules), Studying and Understanding Biomembrane Organization, Model Biomembranes (e.g. Planar Bilayers, Liposomes, Cubosomes), Lipid Self-assembly and Phase Behavior, Nanoscale Design of Lipid Phases.
- Other Interests understanding mechanism and applying novel approaches to crystallize membrane proteins using various lipid systems, value-addition to plant-based (agricultural) waste.
